Bicycle crunches are a dynamic bodyweight exercise that combines spinal flexion, torso rotation and alternating leg extension. When performed with control, they train the rectus abdominis, internal and external obliques and deeper core muscles, while also challenging coordination and hip-flexor endurance.

If you mainly feel the front of your hips rather than your abdominals, raise the legs slightly, reduce the range of motion or slow the exercise down.
The quadriceps help straighten the extended leg, while the inner-thigh muscles contribute to controlling the legs as they pass from one side to the other. These muscles are secondary contributors rather than the main targets.
