  4. Immediately after completing the test, sit down and measure your heart rate for one minute.
  5. After one minute, measure your heart rate again for one minute.
  6. Repeat the heart rate measurement after two minutes and three minutes.

Once you have measured your heart rate at each interval, you can calculate your recovery index by subtracting your heart rate at each interval from your heart rate immediately after the test. The lower the recovery index, the fitter you are.
