Woodway Curved or Flatbed treadmills use a unique slat belt technology that is designed to reduce impact on the joints. The belt is made up of a series of individual slats that are suspended on springs. This allows the belt to flex and absorb shock, which helps to protect the joints from injury.
Woodway treadmills also have a number of other benefits, including:
1974 - WOODWAY’s history begins in Germany in 1974. A technical director in charge of planning a fitness center noticed that the most important piece of equipment, the treadmill, didn’t meet the most important requirements: a mechanically sound machine that is designed to meet human needs. He envisioned a comfortable surface that didn’t interfere with the natural biomechanics of running or walking. Also, he wanted a transportation system which eliminated the friction associated with conventional (conveyor belt) treadmills. After intensive research, and trial and error (and in cooperation with the Deutsche Sporthochschule in Cologne, Germany), he developed and patented a very unique and revolutionary treadmill design.
1975 - In 1975, WOODWAY GmbH was founded in Weil am Rhein, Germany. The name “WOODWAY” is derived from the German “Waldweg” (Wald = Wood and Weg = Way) – the feel of running on a soft pine needle covered path in the forest.
1983 - In 1983, a manufacturing license was awarded to Sakai Medical, for the use of WOODWAY technology in the Japanese marketplace.
1988 - In 1988, a U.S. license was granted to a small, well-established manufacturing company in Waukesha, Wisconsin. WOODWAY USA was formed when the U.S. incarnation of the WOODWAY was developed and completed in 1990. WOODWAY USA is proud to be the primary manufacturer of WOODWAY Treadmills worldwide, exporting treadmills for international distribution, in addition to serving our domestic customers and clients.
TODAY - Today, WOODWAY’s design and manufacturing facilities in the United States, Germany and Japan make WOODWAY the largest specialized treadmill manufacturer in the world. Constant enhancements in quality, design and function are shared and implemented by all three WOODWAY manufacturers. As WOODWAY moves forward, attention to product quality, innovation, and customer service are at the forefront of our efforts. Along with our treadmills, other products, services and strategic relationships are being developed so as to keep WOODWAY on the leading edge as we meet fitness training, testing and rehabilitation needs.
The Curve LTG is Woodway's lighter duty version of the original non-motorized treadmill, intended for general fitness users who don't require all the features of the original Curve. Suitable for home gyms, small commercial settings, boutique set-ups, and personal training studios, the Woodway Curve Lite Training Gear (LTG) is an ideal solution.
The nuts and bolts of this product aren’t very different from our performance lineup. The design is still best-in-class and meant to maximize your health. The TPE slat-belt is still softer than the industry average and the curvature reduces joint, muscle, and tendon wear.
Take your routine to the next level with the patented WOODWAY Curve. This efficient, self-powered manual treadmill adds a unique twist to your workout - no electricity required! Burn up to 30% more calories than other treadmills while powering the curved running surface with every step. The Curve quickly fulfills high-velocity and interval exercises, as well as group workouts. There are no buttons to press when selecting or adjusting speed and the transitions between different exercises in group training are painless.
The Curve is powered by WOODWAY's patented Slat Belt system, featuring a near frictionless running surface. This unique curved surface helps users control their speed and direction, simply by adjusting their body position and taking advantage of gravity. To speed up, start running, and to slow down, let yourself drift down the curve.
