- Protection for your floor: A lifting platform will protect your floor from damage caused by heavy weights. When you drop a weight on a lifting platform, the platform will absorb the shock and prevent the weight from damaging your floor.
- A more stable surface: A lifting platform provides a more stable surface than a regular floor. This is important for exercises that require a lot of stability, such as squats and deadlifts.
- A more comfortable surface: A lifting platform is a more comfortable surface to train on than a regular floor. The platform is made of materials that are designed to absorb shock and provide cushioning. This can help to prevent injuries and make your workouts more comfortable.
- A more dedicated space: A lifting platform can help you to create a more dedicated space for your workouts. This can help you to stay focused and motivated when you are working out.
If you are serious about weightlifting, then a lifting platform is a worthwhile investment. It can help you to protect your floor, improve your stability, and make your workouts more comfortable. You will see from our Lifting Platform collection a number of different styles
Here are some additional benefits of using a lifting platform:
- Improved sound dampening: A lifting platform can help to dampen the sound of weights being dropped, which can be helpful if you live in an apartment or other shared space.
- Increased safety: A lifting platform provides a more stable surface for lifting weights, which can help to prevent injuries.
- Improved performance: A lifting platform can help you to lift heavier weights and perform your exercises with more power and efficiency.
Lifting Platforms provide you with a designated lifting area and if you customise it an excellent branding opportunity, but they also fulfil a function.
What’s the Standard Size Olympic Lifting Platform?
You will generally see three standard weightlifting platform dimensions: 8’x4′, 8’x6′, and 8’x8′. So they are all 8ft wide and vary only in the distance from front to back of the platform.
4ft Deep: Perfectly adequate as a deadlift platform. The bar isn’t travelling high. You don’t need a lot of space.
6ft Deep: Minimally adequate for Olympic lifting. You can potentially run out of room, causing the bar to roll off the platform.
8ft Deep: This is recommended as the optimal size for olympic lifting. Lots of space to work in, no matter if you drop the bar in front of or behind you. This is also the best size for maximum protection of the concrete floor, with the larger wood area spreading out the shock load so that each square footage of concrete can take less of the load.
The 8ft (minimum) width on all platforms is necessary to fit a fully loaded 7ft Olympic bar with some spare tolerance.
The thickness varies, but it isn’t really a platform unless it’s more than one 3/4″ layer of rubber and/or wood. Two or more layers qualifies as a platform, in my mind, and with that it can vary from 1″ to 2.25″ thick.
Branding your Lifting Platform
